Counterspell is key in most fights as it prevents the casting (or discontinues the channeling in the case of Remington the Holy Saint's ability Heal VI) of a very important ability. You can find the counterable abilities of a specific boss on their own page.
Because this spell is shared amongst four classes, there is usually a list of priorities in place of who counters when. This is of course a guideline and is some times unable to be filled if the next class to counter is out of range, disabled (i.e.: stunned), out of mana, or dead. This list of priorities usually is as follows: Warrior (because of the damage dealt (250 with an additional 250 dealt if the Counter is successful)), and because of the class often being in melee and therefore in range), Fire Mage, Warlock/Druid.
Consumes 125-175 of your health every second relinquishing it to the shadows; surges of dark surround the boss dealing 175 damage. If the boss is at 30% or less health or lower surges will deal an extra 200 damage. Boss will gain temporary resistance (15 Sec.) to this spell once casting has finished. Does not deal extra damage to light. Deals 80% Damage to bosses alligned with Shadow.
Deals 125-175 damage to self and 175 to boss per second. If boss is at 30% or less it will deal an extra 200 damage.
Absorbs the life essence of a target enemy unit by taking 100 hit points per second and giving 120% of them to the Warlock. Drained mana is also returned to the Warlock. Does no extra damage to Light or heal bosses aligned with shadow.
Drains 100 HP/sec and heals for 120%. Drained mana return to Warlock.
